Ranks
Jedi Council
Members of the ruling council are Jedi Masters who have attained the highest degree of prestige capable within the Jedi Order. These individuals are tasked with making ultimate decisions, altering the course of history and developing the Jedi Order beyond expectations. These individuals serve as diplomats, leaders and decision makers which dictate law and directive throughout the Jedi Order. They often possess a degree of mastery over the Light Side that superasses even a non-counciled Jedi Master within the Jedi Order. Their voices jointly combined create a power base which equally inspires peace and guidance to all members of the Jedi Order. While filling a role which demonstrates ultimate loyalty to the Jedi Order, it’s culture and directives, Council members are not life-long members of the council. There are a myriad of conditions which may result in the removal, or respected resignation, of a member of the council. At such time, considerations of other Jedi Masters to fill the empty seat are explored.
Jedi Master
Within the light, there are individuals who embrace the force to such a degree as to become the very embodiment of its presence within the galaxy. These individuals are known as Jedi Masters; Jedi within the Order whom represent wisdom, kindness, and the expressions of peace and justice. Few Jedi ever scratch the surface of attaining such attunement to the force. To be a Jedi Master is to be a Master of masters, a voice which sends echoes of change throughout the Jedi Order. A Jedi Master may or may not be a member of the Jedi Council. To achieve more than the status of Master, a Jedi must demonstrate their complete dedication to the order and the ability to make ruling decisions. Only members of the ruling Council may grant a Jedi permission to take a seat amongst their ranks. As seats upon the Jedi Council remain limited at all times, there is no set minimal time limit and individuals must remain as a Master prior to achieving Council-ship; however there is a clear expectation of the Council that those seeking Council-ship will prove themselves worthy prior to consideration.
Jedi Knight
Upon completion of the trials, an Apprentice is identified as a Jedi Knight. A Jedi Knight may choose or request recognition with a supplemental title per their skills or preferences within the Jedi Order. At this juncture, the Apprentice is now recognized as a full Jedi, capable of traversing the galaxy of their own free will. In time (No specific time frame. But they must meet all requirements) a Jedi may apply themselves to receive the title, recognition and prestige of a Jedi Master. Assessments to determine if the Jedi is ready will be left to the Council, or available Masters.
Jedi Padawan
Padawans are the most prominent students of the Jedi and have demonstrated elevated understandings of what it means to be Jedi. They are powerful, skillful and wise in comparison to younglings. The primary purpose of a Padawan is to impress the Jedi Instructors and the visiting Knights and Masters by demonstrating a higher state of learning. During their position as Padawan, an individual may obtain apprenticeship once the Stage One goals (listed below) have been met. In order for a Padawan to attain the rank of Jedi Knight, the Stage Two goals (listed below) must be met.
Stage One
During the first stage of being a padawan, individuals will hone their skills more specifically toward specializations and skills pertaining to future paths. They will demonstrate more advanced skills with a lightsaber, develop greater understanding of force techniques, and be challenged to solve puzzles great and small.
Stage Two
Upon successful demonstration of higher level skills, a Padawan is apprenticed to a Jedi Knight or Master. During this time period, the influences of varied teachers likely ceases and the Apprentice begins a long journey under the core tutelage of their Master. As such, there are no core objectives or assignments to meet. The Apprentices’ Master will assign tasks as he or she deems worthy to assess the Apprentices’ capabilities. After sufficient time has passed, and if the Master believes the Apprentice capable, the Apprentice will be submitted to a series of three core trials under direct supervision of the Council, or available Masters, designed to assess the Apprentices comprehension of Jedi culture, their attunement to the Force as well as their skills with a Lightsaber.
Jedi Youngling
Younglings vary between fresh members, or long-term, devoted students. Younglings are the most common, as many remain at this rank based upon individual skills, intellect, successes and/or failures, personal preferences etc. Younglings have a long list of objectives they must meet before being elevated to the rank of Padawan.
